THE SHAKEDOWN

If you didn’t get to make it out the other weekend for my birthday parties, I’ve got you covered.  I pulled up the history on my laptop, pushed record, and re-did what I did on two of the nights.  Its definitely not exactly the same, but I did these recordings in one take, so I could at least get the vibe of it being live.  I skipped over the commercial club sets, from the first Friday (I may go back and record those anyway), and just decided to record my sets from Sugarfoot @ Verdugo, and The Bridge @ Rehab.  Click on the images below to download them!!  (there’s 2 mixes, be sure to get them both)

For Sugarfoot, I decided to go with a lot stuff that I’ve never really played out live.  Sorry if I don’t know the music that well, but I had fun giving it a shot.  Threw in some stuff that I do know well too.  If you know me, you’ll know which is which.

For The Bridge, I really didn’t have anything planned.  Cygnet drove while I put stuff into a create.  Literally on the drive over.  I went on first that night, so it didn’t really matter what I played.  Just decided to have fun with it.  So if you notice a handful of the same songs on both sets, its  because I had fun with it the night before.  This one has a little more Hiphop to it.

Another one of my old partners from the original Livitup crew is DJ View.  He’s not really DJing much anymore, other than just for fun.  His new passion is photography.  He has a web page, VuShots.com and blog set up.  He came over the other day, took a few pictures, and asked me a few questions.  You can check that all out here.  Just click on the picture below.

This Friday, March 12th…. Its another stop on this birthday tour that halfway put itself together.  This week get to ignore the crappy radio music.  I was so caught up in that radio contest last week, that I had the radio on way more than usual.  (Again… I’ll get more into that later).  So this Friday and Saturday, I promise nothing but good music.

I’ve rocked at Verdugo before, with my boy Hey Mesa.  Scroll through the blog and pull up my Footnotes mix.  I’ll be putting together something cool and different for this week.  Hope to see you there!!

The homie DJ Shredone gave me the title teacher, cause she would come over, practice and session once in a while… She’s been around a lot of other DJs too.. .  But… I’m not mad at the title, kinda flattered to be honest.  I’ll take it cause she’s a dope DJ.  Not a good female DJ, but just good DJ in general.  ShredOne, along with her girl Roza, came out with this mix a few months back. Not sure why I’m just putting it up on here now.  I’m laggin on this whole blog thing as a whole…. anyways… its  good music for the discofunk/boogie lovers. Download it now!!

My original plan for my birthday was to do nothing, but then a lot of things came up, and I ended up with several events planned.  I got a little too busy to post up on the blog, but last Friday, I had two events.  I competed in the semi finals of this KIIS FM DJ contest.  which I will get into another time.  Then right after that, we all walked upstairs from Level3 to The Highlands, and I did a set with the Usual Suspects.  Saturday, I had a BBQ at the fam’s house.  Pictures up soon.

OK… here’s whats comin up!!!!  This Friday, I’ll be rockin with the homie Hey Mesa at his party SugarFoot at The Verdugo Bar.  Flyer up soon.  And on Saturday, its the return of The Bridge.  Brought to you by DJ Hapa and Mr. Choc.  We’ll be celebrating my birthday, along with Mr. Choc and DJ Dynamix.  DJ Babu will be in the mix.  Hope to see you there!!!
