You need this new mix from Shred One. Trust me, download it. I got the sneak preview of this a while back, and I was already diggin it. Now that the final version is out, its definitely in rotation for my long ass drives on the 405. Here’s the description from her page:
THE BIRD & the BEAT, new mix by Shred One, is a soul-experiential collection of chorus, hooks and bridges, sung by the songbirds of hip hop, and supported by beats of original hip hop producers, dedicated to give the timeless sound of the female vocalist its musical moment in the sun.
Get the mix on her page: www.djshredone.com

I good friend of mine dropped this mix a few weeks ago. I don’t really talk about or post too much electro, but here’s a little something for you electro fans. download it off his page.

I’ve been lagging on this one. One of my partners Hey Mesa sent me his new mix earlier this month. Here it is now… my bad on lagging. Its that low range bpm that’ll make you make this stink face while bobbing your head. I’m not gonna bore you with an in depth description on this one. Its family.. its crew… I support it. Download it now.

Officially… my last words of 2010 (actually for the whole decade) were “You’re supposed to eat em!!!” I’ll let you all just put together in your mind what happened before that. Officially, my last drive was from LAX to Cygnet’s place in Laguna Hills. Officially, the last thing I ate was some crackers with cheese dip. Officially, I can’t remember what the last thing I drank was…. and Officially… this is the last mix I did in 2010, and for the decade. Side note.. 2011 = 20 years of DJing for me. In 2009, I called my last mix the 2009 Finale… so I’m just going with it. Here it is… nothing too much related to 2010. I just woke up on the 31st, had an itch to get on the decks, and I just decided to hit record. So here you go… free music.

… also known as the Ghost of Christmas Rehab… Last Tuesday for Rehab Radio, DJ VER5E and myself were supposed to spin on out internet show Rehab Radio. Due to construction going on in the studio where we broadcast the show, it was cancelled for the night. I’m guessing we’ll both be on next week, but next week is after Christmas, and I was planning on doing a Christmas set. I just threw a bunch of Christmas tracks into a crate and was gonna rock it live. Since I didn’t get to do that… here it is recorded. All in one take, so its as close to what it would have been. So… being that its almost Christmas, I still have to finish some shopping. Go ahead and download this… but I wouldn’t play it around the kids.
DOWNLOAD IT HERE: The XMAS That Never Happened
For a Christmas mix that’s a little more planned out, check out the mix that my brother did last year. Yes, you’ll hear a few of the same tracks used. Sorry.

This last 4th of July weekend, I was back on the air with JAM’N 94.5 in Boston. Shout out to the homie DJ Pup Dawg for putting me on. Radio format isn’t really my forte, but I think I made it work. If you missed it, here it is for download.
4th of July Jam on JAM’N 94.5 – DJ SHAKEE set 1
4th of July Jam on JAM’N 94.5 – DJ SHAKEE set 2
I guess I’m a dork, cause I still get pretty geeked when I think about some of these things I get to DJ. I was kinda geeked to see my name on the web player, and the I Heard Radio App on the iPhone.

free mixes for download at the bottom of the post.
Here’s the line up for the weekend:
I’ve mentioned it plenty of times… High Lounge on the rooftop of Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach, CA. I get to play an eclectic blend of music. Everything from Hiphop, R&B, Old School, Soul, Rock, Classic Rock, Dance, Electro, Reggae, Salsa, Samba, Bossa Nova, Jazz, and even a sprinkle of Radio/Top 40. I’ll be there Saturdays, sometime between 3pm and 11pm. This weekend, I’ll be there from 3-7pm. Again, at the bottom of the post there’s some mixes you can download. It was recorded live from here a few weeks ago.

Also later this weekend, tune into JAM’N 94.5. Soon as I have an exact time, I’ll let you all know. Shout out once again to the homie Pup Dawg for putting me on.
and now… the reason you clicked on this to begin with… Free Music. It was recorded live from Hotel Erwin on the 19th. One of the days where we couldn’t use the monitor, so this is all “in the headphones” mixing. I broke it down by the hour, so if you load it into your iTunes or iPod, and set your gaps to 0, it should play seamless. Had to throw in a bunch of random drops, cause I can’t give you 4 hours of music and not tell you who put it together. Enough reading for you? Fine… go ahead and download here:

If you didn’t get to make it out the other weekend for my birthday parties, I’ve got you covered. I pulled up the history on my laptop, pushed record, and re-did what I did on two of the nights. Its definitely not exactly the same, but I did these recordings in one take, so I could at least get the vibe of it being live. I skipped over the commercial club sets, from the first Friday (I may go back and record those anyway), and just decided to record my sets from Sugarfoot @ Verdugo, and The Bridge @ Rehab. Click on the images below to download them!! (there’s 2 mixes, be sure to get them both)
For Sugarfoot, I decided to go with a lot stuff that I’ve never really played out live. Sorry if I don’t know the music that well, but I had fun giving it a shot. Threw in some stuff that I do know well too. If you know me, you’ll know which is which.
For The Bridge, I really didn’t have anything planned. Cygnet drove while I put stuff into a create. Literally on the drive over. I went on first that night, so it didn’t really matter what I played. Just decided to have fun with it. So if you notice a handful of the same songs on both sets, its because I had fun with it the night before. This one has a little more Hiphop to it.
