Street Fighter… worse than I thought.

I’m definitely a big Street Fighter fan. Like most of my friends, I’ve grown up playing the game. So of course, when I heard about a new Street Fighter movie, I was a little bit excited at first. I was hoping that it would make up for that horrible movie back in 94 that Van Damn was in and totally screwed up. Its a shame that was Raul Julia’s last movie.

Seriously… how hard is it to make a good Street Fighter movie??? You could even just take the cartoon movies and put real people in them!! As for this new movie, hopes of it making up for the last one went out the door early on. As soon as I saw the promo poster and the trailer, I knew it was going to be bad. Seriously… who approved the final graphics for that promo poster??? Kristen Kreuk as Chun-Li??? Granted she’s half Chinese, but what?? Is a mainstream audience not ready for an actual Chinese girl to play the lead role!?!? Well… at least Kristen Kreuk looks good right??
Well… in the movie… She never even rocks the actual Chun-Li outfit. She never even wears anything sexy to make up for how bad the movie is. Its a bad look when you walk in expecting a bad movie, and you still walk out disappointed!! I almost wanted to stand up and walk out during a scene at a club where she makes eye contact with Bison’s main chick, and they dance around each other. Chris Klein as Charlie Nash. Seriously… how does this guy get any work? He’s really the worst actor I’ve ever seen!!! The one thing that kept me from walking out, was the thought that Bison might kill him off, cause that’s what happens in the real story. Bison kills Nash, and that’s why Guile enters the tournament. Michael Clarke Duncan… I thought he was cool in the past. Like in Armageddon, or roles where he’s funny. But after seeing him play Kingpin in Daredevil, and now Balrog…. I think he might actually be as bad a Chris Kelin. Taboo as Vega, I thought could be cool. Being a b-boy, he could have incorporated some crazy moves, but nope. Chun-Li kicked his ass in like a 45 second fight scene. That’s right… the fight scenes were all pretty weak. I could go on more about how bad it was…. but I’m sure a lot of you already assumed that. Deep down, I was hoping that it would somehow impress me, but it didn’t. Its right there with that 1994 Jean Claude VanSuck version. The one thing that 1994 version had going for it was a pretty kick ass soundtrack. Check out the tracklist:

Sorry I’m only sharing a few tracks… but if you want the whole thing…. you gotta dig for it. Its going for almost 40 bucks used on Amazon.com. Keep digging for the full album.. its worth it. Cube comes as hard as does on Wicked. The Pharcyde’s Pandemonium is Golden Age Hip Hop at its best. Ahmad, Ras Kass, and Saafir on one track is a backpacker’s material for mastubation. The B.U.M.S. and Craig Mack, I’m letting you have those tracks for download. The only low point of the CD is Hammer with Deion Sanders. Nuff said on that…. Anyways… check these out… and dig for the rest.
